Prince of Condé
His Royal Highness Sem Yoram, Prince of Condé, Duke of Enghien,
Head of the Royal House of Bourbon-Condé
His Royal Highness Sem Yoram, Prince of Condé, Duke of Enghien, was born in Enschede in the Netherlands on March 23, 2002.
A few months after the Prince of Condé was born, he adopted and is by blood a descendant of the House of Bourbon-Condé and King Louis XIV of France; both through the matrilineal line. Because of the Prince’s adoption, the family tree won’t be published due to various reasons including the privacy and protection of the biological family.
The House of Bourbon-Condé went agnatically extinct in 1830 after the death of Louis Henri, Prince of Condé, Duke of Bourbon and the title “Prince of Condé” with the death of Louis d’Orléans, Prince of Condé, Duke of Bourbon from the House of Orléans in 1866. The current Prince of Condé, Sem Yoram, re-established the House of Bourbon-Condé in 2020 and is now known as the Third Creation.
The Prince of Condé changed the official name of the House from “The Most Serene House of Bourbon-Condé” to its current name “The Royal House of Bourbon-Condé” since the last agnatic members of the House were addressed as “His/Her Royal Highness” and because it’s one of the most senior Bourbon branches. The Prince also abolished the traditional agnatic succession system. As of October 1, 2020 the House officially adopted the absolute primogeniture system, which means that all the titles can be inherited by the oldest child regardless of gender.
If the French monarchy would ever be restored, the Prince of Condé and his descendants would only be eligible as monarchs if the absolute primogeniture system would be adopted. However, the Prince recognizes Louis Alphonse, Duke of Anjou (Louis XX) as the rightful King of France but does not renounce his own matrilineal right to the French throne.
The Prince of Condé is fluent in Dutch and English and also speaks some French and German.
